Saxton Creek

The client sought to improve creek water flow and help with flood control. Nelmac prepared a design and planting layout for the site. The site posed some challenges. In addition to undertaking the work during a wet planting season, there were restrictions to accessing private land, tight timeframes, and different soils from rock hard to bog. The Nelmac team planted nearly 3,000, mostly native plants and there has been a good survival success rate.

Days Track Planting

Before

After

A major slip several years ago destroyed Days Track – a public walkway. After a lengthy process to reform the track and establish pathways, Nelmac was contracted to plant the site to re-beautify and stabilise the hill.

The Nelmac team created the design with over 1,500 plants from our Nursery, including mostly natives. Every plant was secured with a plant guard to protect it from spray control for the surrounding weeds and pests such as weka that can dig up plants before they’re established.

This very steep site presented a challenge to the team. It was also a very high rainfall season. The team and the client were pleased that the project was completed in a very short timeframe.
