The Nelson Marina has 16 pontoons with 600 marina berths, three toilet/shower blocks and an office/administration building - all of which are managed and maintained by the Nelmac team.

Nelmac’s work varies from the booking and allocation of berths and other marina facilities through to regular inspection of assets, including electrical checks, hazard ID and maintenance of structures and buildings. During the course of the contract we have built, replaced and repaired pontoons, ramps, water supply systems and other specialist infrastructure. Our team has a high level of interaction with facility users and the general public and we take pride in our customer focused approach.

Nelmac is responsible for ongoing maintenance of this network, including network inspections, operational checks and sampling, interface between customers and the client, reactive maintenance, monitoring and maintaining the electrical / SCADA network, minor repairs, water compliance testing and monitoring, and other projects as requested by the client.

Our team is on-call 24/7 including a duty officer roster system and emergency response services.

Over the last five years, Nelmac has achieved full compliance to the target level of 95% or above with no financial deductions and full compliance with NZ Drinking Water Standards monitoring requirements.

Nelmac operates and maintains the two treatment plants in the Nelson region, one of which is the Nelson North Wastewater Treatment Plant (NNWTP).

The NNWTP has primary screening, a primary clarifier, a trickling filter, one 26ha baffled oxidation pond, two 7ha planted wetlands, and sea outfall.

Nelmac manages the treatment plant to perform to resource consent conditions. We undertake routine maintenance of all plant and equipment including SCADA and we are responsible for all operations 24/7, including emergency response. Our team conducts routine maintenance, minor repairs, and project upgrades as necessary. Outside the facility, we also manage vegetation control, vermin or pest control, and general exterior building maintenance as well.

This treatment plant has had a problematic history with respect to odour complaints. Since Nelmac has taken on the full operational contract, we have managed the plant essentially odour free and well within consent requirements. (CONFIRM STILL ACCURATE AFTER RECENT ODOUR EVENTS)

Nelmac’s commitment to improve the operation and perception of this treatment plant by working closely with the Principal’s representatives, the public, and other affected parties to understand the situation was a major contributing factor to the reduction in odour events.
