Abel Tasman-Project Janzsoon trap check/clearing felled trees

A team of five Nelmac staff spent five days in the Abel Tasman National Park to clear, clean, and re-bait pest traps while recording trap data. The team walks into the park from Totaranui and stays at huts each night.

Two of the team work on clearing major trees and branches that are felled by wind along trap lines. These staff require skills with chainsaws and the ability to carry and move heavy objects.

All members of the team are required to be able to navigate their way and work alone in heavy bush. Fitness and fatigue are always a challenge, but the client was extremely pleased with the outcome of Nelmac’s services.
