NELMAC are committed to developing and implementing sustainable practices. They manage each of their site operations in a way that protects the future social, cultural, environmental and economic well-being of the community.
A joint Nelson City Council-NELMAC Parks and Reserves Sustainability Action Plan was developed and implemented in 2009. Draft plans for other key areas have been made and will be implemented in the near future. NELMAC are also working with the Cawthron Institute using their Carbon Calculator to quantify their carbon emissions.
Principles of sustainability and internationally accepted sustainable practice approaches influence every area of NELMAC’s business including the health and safety of staff and public, efficient use of vehicles and machinery, storage of chemicals and herbicides, and the sourcing and use of raw materials.
